Defectors should seek fresh mandate

Hyderabad/Vijayawada, Feb 23: Reiterating that Chandrababu Naidu should ask the legislators who crossed over to seek a fresh mandate, YSR Congress has said that TDP is maintaining double standards on the issue of defections as it was crying foul in Telangana and was luring opposition MLAs in Andhra Pradesh.

‘YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has the moral superiority to ask the MLAs who wanted to join YSRCP to first quit the other party and seek a fresh mandate while Chandrababu Naidu has no such scruples and has been speaking against defections in Telangana while encouraging the same practice here, ‘party leaders Botsa Satyanarayana, Kodali Nani, Peddireddy  Ramachandra Reddy, Jogi Ramesh, Perni Nani and others told reporters here on Wednesday at two separate press conferences.

TDP has been tagging development mantra for the defections, but it is totally wrong people are vexed with the state policies. ‘It is not development or the state interest but personal interests that have taken precedence and the cross-over leaders should seek a fresh mandate,’ they said.

‘We quit the Party and asked the Speaker to disqualify us to seek a fresh mandate. YSRCP has taken Sobhba only after she quit PRP and before that, YS Rajasekhar Reddy asked Danam Nagender to resign from TDP to join Congress. This took place in just three months.

‘Chandrababu Naidu is flushed with cash from the kickbacks of Pattiseema and real estate deals in capital region and his nature was exposed with his involvement in the cash for vote scam. He has the habit of luring legislators and manipulating the mandate as he had usurped power from NTR.

The leaders who crossed over should seek disqualification and the TDP should go for polls to know the pulse of the people. If the cross-over legislators are rejected in the people’s court, TDP should seek a fresh mandate as it will be a verdict on TDP policies,’ they said.

YSR Congress follows ethics and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and YS Vijayamma quit after coming out of Congress and all the 18 MLAs who supported them had put in their papers and have even defied Party whip and came out victorious in the elections on YSRCP ticket.

In Telangana he had sold out the party. Revanth Reddy was the mediator in Telangana and here who is the person who mediated and for what consideration, they said adding that the Party will not be affected by the four defectors.

In the four constituencies, there are people who lost on TDP ticket and the going would not be easy after the defections.
