Hyderabad, Feb 23: Poaching into the Opposition turf by luring the leaders with money and implicating them in false cases is nothing short of political debauchery, YSR Congress has said and asked the leaders who crossed over to seek fresh mandate.

‘After the debacle in Telangana, Chandrababu Naidu has been resorting to unfair and undemocratic practices by luring the opposition leaders by foisting false cases and offering huge packages. Only the meek and weak would surrender for such tactics but it shows the weakness of the ruling party and our resolve has been further strengthened to be with our leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Party leaders including Deputy floor leader Jyothula Nehru told reporters here on Tuesday.

Engineering defections has been the motive of Chandrababu Naidu government and his comments that he had done it only in reply to the remarks of the Leader of Opposition has no credence. It was the same Chandrababu Naidu who had raised a hue and cry when his flock was switching over to TRS and he has been on the same path in Andhra Pradesh.

‘We demand the four leaders who crossed over to quit the Assembly and seek a fresh mandate as they were elected opposing the same TDP into which you have crossed over. It will be known in the people’s court as to who is popular, the corrupt and inefficient TDP or the party with moral values and credibility, the leaders said.

The four leaders who went to the other Party were either lured by huge financial gains or they were implicated in false cases and were forced to switch over.

This only shows the weakness of the ruling party as it is losing ground with all sections opposing its governance and policies and were looking towards YSR Congress, they said.

‘Encouraging defections would prove very costly to the ruling party in the long run and this is bound to boomerang as there is dissent brewing the TDP itself,’ they said.

‘We will explore all options against the defections and also demand the MLAs to seek a fresh mandate as they were elected on a plank opposing TDP,’ they said.

Besides the Deputy floor leader, MLAs K Srinivasulu, Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy and Alla Ramakrishna Reddy also addressed the press conference.
