Ramachandrapuram: The villagers belonging to Capital Region Development Area (CRDA) met Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Kuyyeru in East Godavari. YS Jagan who is on his mass contact programme, Praja Sankalpa Yatra met the farmers from Penumaka and Undavalli villagers and lent them a patient ear.
The farmers told YS Jagan that in the name of land pooling they were facing threats from groups. Already 54,000 acres of land has been forcibly acquired from farmers, he said. They said if anyone resisted parting with their land, they threatened to take it away under land acquisition and wanted them to say that it had been given voluntarily.
The CRDA farmers informed the YSRCP Chief that loan, subsidies and water have been stopped to them. Though the requirement to build capital was just 900 acres of land, the government has taken 54,000 acres, they said. They questioned whether it was fair to harass them for land while not even a single building has been constructed till date.
The farmers said that they had come to seek help from the Leader of Opposition and a solution to their problem. They are hopeful that YS Jagan will address the issue. The Leader of Opposition, after hearing the woes of the CRDA farmers, has assured them of extending full support.
Later, villagers of Gopalraopet in Ramachandrapuram constituency met the people's leader and described the state of roads and said it was very difficult to walk on the road, leave alone driving vehicles. The villagers mentioned that during late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy's rule a BT road was laid. After it got washed away, no one has bothered to relay the road. They told YS Jagan that despite numerous requests to their local MLA, there has been no response.
